After mourning the loss of its fourth diamond in 2002 and 2003, the Westin Providence earned back the high AAA rating this year.
The AAA diamond rating system is based on hotel service, products and physical appearance and is used in travel books across the nation. Five diamonds is the highest rating. The Westin went from four diamonds down to three in 2002 because it hadn’t been renovated since its opening nine-years earlier and there were “service challenges,” Westin General Manager Mark Anderson said. The hotel addressed the issues in time for their May 2003 inspection and was given the high rating again.
