Tracy L. Bailey-Gates has been awarded the Amgen Award for science teaching excellence. The award recognizes science teachers in K-12 public and private schools. Gates teaches grades 10 to 12 at North Smithfield Jr.-Sr. High School. She teaches biology, honors physiology and honors advanced biology. Gates has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Boston College and a master’s in science from the University of Rhode Island.
