Astro-Med executives forecast that the fourth quarter, which ends Jan. 31, 2001, will be better than the fourth quarter of the preceding year. During the fourth quarter of the year ended Jan. 31, 2000, Astro-Med reported net earnings of $526,000, equal to 12 cents per share, on revenues of $13,062,000.
The company has also announced an alliance with an undisclosed Asian manufacturer, who will manufacture a new low-cost line of bar code label printers to Astro-Med’s specifications. With this new line of printers, to be introduced early in the new year, Astro-Med intends to compete with industry leaders such as Zebra Technologies.
