Ruth Davis has joined RDW Group as director of special events and senior account executive. Davis will be responsible for promotional public relations and organizing special events for such accounts as New England Coffee Company, Providence Place and Rhode Island Convention Center Authority. Prior to joining the company, she was vice president and partner of Providence Food Group, a public relations and marketing firm specializing in the culinary industry. A Providence resident, she earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from RISD, and her master’s from New York University.

Scott G. Terrien
Scott G. Terrien has been appointed to the newly created position of retail support officer at First Bank and Trust Company. Among his responsibilities are operational and marketing support for the Bank’s branch office locations as well as the creation and maintenance of retail banking training materials. Terrien was previously the sales and service manager for Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank in Cumberland. A Cumberland resident, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College.
Paul D. Nunes
Paul D. Nunes has been appointed senior vice president of Fleet’s Private Clients Group. He manages a portfolio of high net worth clients within the group. He has a business administration degree from Providence College and is a trustee, treasurer, and second vice chairman for the Westerly Hospital; a trustee for the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, and director of First Night, Westerly.

Joseph P. DiMaria
Joseph P. Di-Maria formerly dean of enrollment services at the Community College of Rhode Island, has been appointed vice president for student affairs for the college. Employed by CCRI for over 10 years, DiMaria has held the positions of registrar and dean of admissions and records in addition to dean of enrollment. As vice president, he will be responsible for enrollment management, student information systems, student activities, advising and counseling, and athletics.
The Wheeler School board of trustees has elected five new members to join its board for three-year terms. Elected were Dr. Marlene Cutitar, surgeon with Randall Surgical Group, Inc.; Peter Kimball, director of gift planning at Harvard University; Bradford B. Kopp, group executive vice president for corporate strategy and development at Citizens Financial group; Mark Mandell, senior partner with Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair, Ltd.; and Cyndie Seely, owner of C.J. Designs.
HEALTH
Jane Sylvestre
Jane Sylvestre has been named Young Dietician of the Year by the RI Dietetic Association. An East Greenwich resident, Sylvestre is the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island’s Outpatient Nutrition Education Clinic coordinator. She also coordinates community weight control programs for adolescents and adults, organizes cooking demonstrations, and counsels patients at group homes on nutrition. The award she received is presented to one person each year who has made an outstanding contribution to patient care and dietetics. Sylvestre is also one of fewer than 100 health professionals in the state who hold a special certification for diabetes outpatient education by the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Thomas E. Philbin
Thomas E. Philbin has been elected controller of Valley Resources, Inc. & Subsidiaries. Formerly the manager of accounting and external reporting, he has been with the company since 1985. Philbin is a member of the New England Gas Association, where he serves as chair of the financial and administrative committee. The Cumberland resident is also a member of the Institute of Certified Managerial Accountants.
HUMANITIES
M. Drake Patten has been appointed executive director for the Rhode Island Committee for the Humanities. Patten previously served as RICH’s director of programming, and before that, as director of the public archaeology program at the University of Virginia. She replaces Joseph Finkhouse, who recently became director of International Programs at Boston University.

Robert E. Rainville
Robert E. Rainville has joined the public finance group of Tillinghast Licht & Semenoff as an associate. Admitted to practice in Rhode Island, Rainville received his law degree from Quinnipiac College School of Law, and his bachelor’s in finance from the University of Rhode Island. While in law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in International Environmental Law and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. He is a West Warwick resident, and a member of the town’s Lions Club and Democratic Town Committee.
MANUFACTURING
William B. Clausin
William B. Clausin of West Warwick has joined Fielding Manufacturing as a value-added supervisor in manufacturing operations. Formerly with Nulco Manufacturing Co., Clausin has held several management positions prior to Fielding. He earned his associate’s degree in business management from Johnson & Wales University. He has been active in several area charitable organizations, serving as past grand knight of the Keough Council Knights of Columbus, past vice president of the United Veterans’ Council; former Cub Scout commissioner; and was a member of both the Woonsocket Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club.

John Hammer
John Hammer of Seekonk, Mass. has been named business development manager to Latin America for Teknor Apex International. He will be responsible for the sales, marketing and business development for all Teknor Apex products sold to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. He was formerly sales manager for Latin America. Hammer has been with Teknor Apex since 1995. cs and rubber for H. Heller & Co. in New York.
