Kohl’s of Wisconsin to lease Bradlees stores

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s Corp., owner of a suburban department store chain,
has agreed to lease 12 former Bradlees stores in the Boston area and three in
New Jersey. Bradlees has filed for bankruptcy and the lease agreement with an
affiliate of Stop & Shop Supermarkets, Inc., which owns the rights to sell
leases to the Bradlees stores, Bloomberg News reported. Wal-Mart and Home Depot
have applied for leases to 20 other Bradlees stores. Approval of the leases must
be obtained from U.S. Bankruptcy court. The specific location of the stores which
Kohl’s plans to lease will be released after the deal is completed, expected to
take about 90 days, a spokesperson said.
