PAWTUCKET, RI — Physical therapists from Performance Physical Therapy will host a legislative open house on September, 22nd, from 11am to 1pm at 129 School St, Pawtucket, RI 02860. This open house will allow constituents the opportunity to meet the candidates for mayor and general assembly from Pawtucket and East Providence. Additionally candidates for the state offices and the House of Representatives have been encouraged to be present. Past and present patients and clients have been invited to attend and meet the candidates and discuss current concerns.
The setting for the open house will be within the physical therapy treatment area providing candidates the chance to learn about physical therapy and the role it plays in today’s health care environment. Additionally candidates will become acquainted with a Rhode Island, small business, employing around 30 people.
Physical therapy (also physiotherapy) is provided by licensed physical therapists. Physical Therapists assesses and provide treatment to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function throughout life. Treatment involves a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education and modalities. Physical Therapists promote the person’s ability to participate in their usual activities, whether this is the ability to run a marathon after a knee injury, return to work after a low back strain, or safely walk around the home after a hip fracture. Furthermore, a physical therapist can help reduce the need for medications, lower risk of heart disease and stroke, and help manage glucose levels.
