RIC alumnus to conduct philharmonic at gala

PROVIDENCE — Peter Boyer, a 1991 Rhode Island College, will conduct the Rhode Island Philharmonic April 6 at the concluding event of the dedicatory season for the John Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts. Also featured in the performance will be Judith Lynn Stillman, pianist and artist-in-residence. The season opened for the center last September 15. Boyer has won several national competitions. Most recently he conducted the London Symphony in his commercial debut, featuring six of his works. The recording, which was done at the EMI-Abbey Road Studios in London, is scheduled for release in May. The event is co-sponsored by Citizens Bank and Rhode Island Monthly.
