EAST GREENWICH – Aurora Flight Sciences, aerospace vehicle manufacturer, has selected East Greenwich-based software solutions company Vector Software for the code based testing in its unmanned aircraft.
Manassas, Va.-based Aurora, which specializes in the design and construction of unmanned aircraft vehicles for military applications, chose Vector’s VectorCAST embedded software testing platform to support DO-178B software testing.

The VectorCAST/C++ system will automate software testing on the control systems in the unmanned aircraft.
According to a release, Aurora chose VectorCAST for its “robust capabilities” and integrations with the MathWorks and Simulink systems already in place.
The integration enabled Aurora to reuse previously generated model test vectors, which saved significant time that is normally allocated to building and re-executing tests in code and target-based environments.
“Our test tool evaluation team considered a number of other applications for software testing. We ultimately chose VectorCAST for its integration and reuse capability with Simulink,” Larry Rogers, avionics software manager for Aurora, said in a statement. “We have over 40,000 Simulink test cases that can now be imported and executed in the VectorCAST environment automatically.”
