BLADE READY unites APC with vendors of complementary data-center hardware and software to deliver comprehensive interoperable products, solutions, and services for blade-server environments. Together, the program members help enterprises to assess, design, procure, stage, implement and interconnect blade servers and related equipment.

“With blade-server technology driving up densities to 30kW per rack when fully populated, companies need easy access to information on how to successfully deploy blades,” said Aaron Davis, APC’s chief marketing officer.

“The BLADE READY program offers an assessment of a company’s readiness to implement blades – and, if appropriate, assists in facilitating the transition to blades – resulting in operational excellence in that firm’s blade environment.

“Both Smartbunker and Panduit easily meet the stringent requirements of the BLADE READY program, and we are delighted to add these high-caliber companies,” Davis said.

“Today’s businesses are aware of the many advantages blade technology offers, but they may not be aware of the challenges involved in successful deployment of this new technology,” said Ron Partridge, Panduit’s vice president of global sales and marketing. “With these challenges in mind, Panduit applied its expertise and proficient design capabilities to develop a unique cabling management solution specifically for blade servers. This proven solution ensures smooth and speedy deployment of blade servers.”

Kelly Smith, managing director of Smartbunker said: “When selecting a hosting partner, customers want to be assured that their chosen partner has a robust and secure infrastructure, coupled with the capacity and expertise to deploy high-density equipment without impacting the environment or disrupting other hosted equipment. Smartbunker’s association with APC’s BLADE READY program provides additional assurance of the company’s expertise and ability to deliver this service.”

According to industry research firm Gartner Inc., worldwide blade-server shipments are expected to reach 1.2 million per year, and shipments of all servers, 7 million per year, by 2009. The BLADE READY program aims to take advantage of that trend by offering a single stop for a variety of resources, including APC’s Blade Readiness Assessment Service, plus white papers, build-out guides, total cost of ownership (TCO) planning guides and more.
