MANSFIELD, Mass. — Helix Technology Corp. last week reported a net loss for the
second quarter of $3.2 million, compared with net income of $9.8 million for the
same period a year ago.. Sales for the second quarter of 2001 were $26.6 million
compared with $58.5 million a year ago. Net income for the six months ended June
30 was $1.7 million compared with net income of $17.7 million a year ago. Sales
for the six-month period were $75.2 million in 2001 versus $108.6 million in 2000.
Helix President Robert J. Lepofsky said results were in line with the company’s
revised expectations, and reflect customers’ caution and uncertainty about entering
new commitments.
