Deborah L. McFarland has been promoted to vice president at Bank of Newport. Her responsibilities include overseeing and directing the effective operation of the bank’s deposit, research and support areas in conformance with policies and procedures established by the Bank of Newport. She also supervises the after-hours service team to ensure efficient operation of the bank’s ATMs. She has held various positions with the bank over the past 27 years, most recently serving as assistant vice president for deposit operations. MacFarland has attended the Community College of Rhode Island, the Center for Financial Studies in Connecticut and the New England College of Finance. For the past 18 years she has been an active board member for the Portsmouth Action for Youth and a member of the New England Safe Deposit Association. She is a resident of Portsmouth.
