Bill would streamline mail ballot process

PROVIDENCE — State Rep. Peter L. Lewiss, D-Dist. 51 of Westerly, has submitted
legislation that he says will streamline and simplify what he characterizes as
a confusing mail and absentee ballot process. Lewiss has introduced 23 pages of
amendments, changes and deletions that will, among other things, simply the application
forms for absentee and mail ballots, simplify the reuqirements for mail ballot
applications, and speed up the process to obtain ballots. Lewiss said he has the
support of the Secretary of State and League of Women Voters.
