Casey Barney of Warwick has been promoted to captain in the R.I. Department of Corrections. A graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island, he began his career as a correctional officer in 1989 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1996. Barney previously had been a commissioned officer in the Army Medical Corps. His new post will be the Adult Correctional Institutions’ Intake Service Center.
