Charles C.J. Carpenter, professor of medicine at Brown Medical School, has received the John E. Fogarty Recognition Award for his career in research to address the disease problems of developing countries and his involvement in training researchers in international health. Carpenter is the director of The Lifspan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research, a joint research effort based at The Miriam Hospital. He serves on the executive committee of a Fogarty AIDS International Research and Training Program based at Brown University. Carpenter is a former physician-in-chief at The Miriam Hospital.
