Symbol Technologies Inc., the largest maker of bar-code scanners, won an order from CVS Corp. for a wireless system and hand-held computers to manage inventory at the pharmacy chain’s U.S. stores.
Terms were not disclosed. CVS, based in Woonsocket, will use a Symbol Spectrum24 High Rate Wi-Fi wireless network in its 4,100 U.S. stores, the companies said in a statement. Handheld devices will let employees manage deliveries, price changes, inventory control and receiving.
CVS already uses Symbol equipment that includes some wireless applications, the statement said.
Symbol is based in Holtsville, New York.
