CVS Corp. had “record-breaking” financial results for the second quarter of 2006, the Woonsocket-based drugstore chain said today.
The company reported revenue of $10.6 billion during April, May and June, up 15.8 percent from the same period last year. And net earnings jumped by 22.5 percent to $337.9 million, or 40 cents per diluted share.

“Not only did we complete the acquisition of 701 Sav-on and Osco … drugstores and negotiate a deal to purchase MinuteClinic, the leader in retail-based health clinics, but we also delivered record-breaking financial results,” said Tom Ryan, chairman, president and CEO of CVS, in a statement.
CVS is the largest U.S. pharmacy chain with 6,205 retail locations in 44 states and the District of Columbia, according to the statement.
