West Greenwich-based GTECH Holdings Corp. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed James F. McCann to serve on the Company’s Board. The Company anticipates nominating Mr. McCann for election to its Board of Directors at the 2003 Annual Meeting of Shareholders of the Company.

Mr. McCann, 51, currently serves as Chairman and CEO of 1-800-Flowers.com, Inc. Headquartered in Westbury, New York, 1-800-Flowers.com is a leader in retail floral gift market, providing gift products including flowers, plants, home décor, gourmet foods, and gift baskets to customers around the world.
Mr. McCann has been in the retail floral industry since 1976, when he began building a chain of 14 retail flower shops in the New York metropolitan area. Mr. McCann acquired the 1-800-Flowers phone number and renamed the company in 1986, followed by the launch of 1-800-Flowers.com on the Internet in 1992. Today, 1-800-Flowers.com maintains relationships with a number of online services, including America Online (AOL), Microsoft Network (MSN), and Yahoo.
Mr. McCann currently serves as a board member of Gateway, the National Retail Federation, Boyd’s Bears, Hofstra University, and Winthrop University Hospital.
Mr. McCann received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1974. Mr. McCann is married with three children and lives in Long Island, New York.
