Kathryn A. Friedman has been appointed associate vice president for community, equity and diversity at the University of Rhode Island. In this newly created role, Friedman will focus on developing a diverse community of students, faculty and staff. She will oversee the university’s Women’s Center, Multicultural Center, LGBT Center, the Bias Incident Response Team and the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity. •
