Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-Dist. 4) of Providence and Pawtucket has been named Legislator of the Year by the Rhode Island Council of Community Mental Health Organizations, a group of non-profit community mental health centers in Rhode Island. According to a press release from the Rhode Island General Assembly, he was chosen to receive the award because of his advocacy efforts on behalf of people living with mental illness. Cicilline has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1994 and is on the House Judiciary Committee. He is a member of several professional and civic groups, including Very Special Arts Rhode Island and the Groden Center.
