Habitat for Humanity is building a house for Mrs. Diana Ramirez, a single mother with two children, and her mother Maria Torres. The house, which will be called The First Ladies House is part of a nation-wide program to involve the spouses of the Governors of all 50 states in building a Habitat for Humanity house. Mrs. Marilyn Almond will serve as honorary chair of the all-women group which will build the house. Adler’s Hardware on Wickenden St. in Providence donated all paints and supplies for the project this past Friday, and other businesses and companies have lent support. Habitat for Humanity houses, which are made possible through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with interest-free loans. The house will be completed sometime this summer.
