RIC faculty ratifies contract

PROVIDENCE — Unions representing faculty at Rhode Island College announced that
members had overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract with the college and
the Board of Governors for Higher Education. The contract, which is retroactive
to July 1, 2000, calls for annual across-the-board successive increases of 3.5
percent, 4.1 percent and 4.5 percent for each year through June 30, 2003. Health
benefits currently possessed by the faculty remain in effect during the life of
the contract, without any increase in cost to the members. The contract also guarantees
a development fund for faculty of at least $30,000 a year.
