Textron expects significantly higher 2000 EPS

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Reuters) — Textron Inc., a global, multi-industry company, said yesterday it expects its full-year 2000 earnings to be significantly higher than last year.



The company said it sees 2000 earnings per share, before charges, in the range of $4.65 to $4.68 per share, up from $4.05 a share.



Analysts on average expect the company to post 2000 earnings of $4.65 a share, according to the research firm First Call/Thomson Financial.



Textron said it expects its 2001 earnings, before charges, to grow by between 13 percent and 15 percent. It said it also expects a compounded annual growth rate for revenues of between 10 percent and 15 percent through 2004.



Textron stock yesterday closed down 9/16 at $50 on the New York Stock Exchange, but regained that by mid-morning today.
