Tom Green has been named head golf professional at Button Hole Short Course and Teaching Center in Providence. He will be responsible for instructional programs at the facility including the Button Hole kids lesson program. Green has more than 20 years experience as a head golf professional. He was previously head golf pro at the North Kingstown-based Quidnessett Country Club, where he developed a junior program and ran teaching clinics for men, women and juniors. Green lives in North Kingstown.

PBN: What’s the most difficult aspect of the game to teach a child, or an adult for that matter?
GREEN: I would have to say the grip; very few people are willing to invest the time to get it right.
PBN: What’s your golf handicap?
GREEN: I would say about 4 at present, but with a facility like Button Hole to practice at, I would think it would go down a little.
PBN: You’ve had more than 20 years experience as a golf pro, how did you get into it?
GREEN: That’s easy. I grew up across the street from a golf course and that’s all I ever wanted to do.
