GTECH, the West Greenwich based global supplier of on-line lottery equipment and services, announced last week it had donated six recycled computers to the George J. Peters Grammar School in Cranston.
The kindergarten through fifth grades will use the computers to assist in reading and writing lessons.

The donation is part of GTECH’s computer recycling program in which discarded computers are refurbished by company employee Mitch Bertone, and then donated to schools and nonprofit agencies.
“I’m glad to see the computers being used as a teaching tool in today’s classrooms,” Bertone said. “It is great to see children having fun learning to use computers.”
GTECH is also involved with other education programs, including initiatives like the Times2 Academy, Probe Progress Reports and the YMCA PowerZone.
