Ernest C. Torres

Ernest C. Torres, chief justice of the U.S. District Court, Rhode Island District, has received a Neil J. Houston Memorial Award for service to the criminal justice profession and the public interest. Appointed to the court in 1987, Torres previously had a private practice in Providence and, from 1975 to 1980, was a state representative. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Duke University School of Law
