The price of gasoline continues to drop in Rhode Island, according to surveys conducted by AAA Southern New England and the State Energy Office.
According to AAA’s weekly survey of local gasoline prices, the average price per gallon on self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is $1.55, down five cents from last week, and down 23 cents since the record high of $1.78 on June 4. This week’s AAA survey found the average price of self-serve mid-grade gasoline to be $1.66; for premium, $1.75; and for diesel, $1.57.

AAA’s corresponding prices for full-serve gasoline are $1.64, $1.74, $1.84, and $1.62, respectively.
The State Energy Office’s weekly survey found the average price per gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline to be $1.59, with mid-grade averaging $1.68, and premium averaging $1.75. Corresponding prices for full-serve gasoline were found to be $1.77, $1.86, and $1.93, respectively. The office, which records one average price for diesel fuel, found that number to be $1.62.
