PROVIDENCE – After reviewing revised cost estimates, a design proposal and financing methods, Governor Lincoln Almond approved plans to continue with the Warwick Intermodal Station project. The intermodal project is intended to link T.F.Green State Airport with Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor with an automated people mover. Financing will be a combination of tax-exempt bonds and federal loan totaling $126 million, plus $41 million in state and federal matching funds, with repayment of the bonds linked to charges levied on airport rental cars. Almond said that a review in the spring would consider the matters of the sale of the bonds and securing the loan. For manufacturers, energy is more than just another operating expense.
