Joan Countryman

Joan Countryman has been appointed to the Rhode Island Convention Center Authority
(RICCA) board of directors. She is the head of Lincoln School, a K-12 school
for girls with co-educational infant and pre-school programs in Providence.
She has previously served as assistant head for academic planning and director
of studies at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia where she taught mathematics.
She has also lectured at the University of Pennsylvania and served as consultant
to the School District of Philadelphia. Countryman authored several publications
including Black Images in American Literature (1977) and Writing to Learn Mathematics
(1992). She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Yale University and the
Fulbright Commission and she resides in Providence and Philadelphia.
