Tony Mendez has joined the board of directors at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank of West Warwick. He is the CEO of WPMZ, 1110, a full-time Hispanic radio station (the first of its kind in Rhode Island, according to a press release from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank). He co-founded the station in 1995. Mendez was formerly employed at several local radio stations in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he was involved with WRIU 90.3 FM, the school’s student-run radio station. He is originally from the Dominican Republic. He resides in West Warwick with his wife Yocasta and his two daughters Winnie and Katia.
