PROVIDENCE – Seven local employers will give more than 1,000 of their workers additional job training thanks to $398,335 in matching grants awarded by the Governor’s Workforce Board R.I. in August.
The grants, which range in size from $2,211.50 to $50,000, are paid for using money from the state’s Job Development Fund.

“Employee training can improve the health of Rhode Island businesses by boosting worker productivity, operational efficiency and workplace innovation,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, president of the 15-member Governor’s Workforce Board and president and chief operating officer of The Washington Trust Co.
