RIPTA announces changes in fall bus schedule

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced on Thursday that fall bus service changes will be implemented on Saturday, September 3.

RIPTA is adding trips that will provide a single continuous ride to the hospital area on the following bus routes: #10 (North Scituate), #14 (Wickford/Narragansett), #32 (West Barrington), #33 (Riverside), #54 (Woonsocket/Lincoln/Providence via Charles Street), #58 (Mineral Spring Avenue-North Providence,#60 (Newport/Providence) and #66 (Providence/URI).

After stopping at Kennedy Plaza, these routes will than continue on to Rhode Island Hospital. Bus routes #1 (Eddy/Gaspee) and #3 (Warwick Avenue) will also serve RI Hospital.

Additionally changes include ending service on RIPTA’s Green Line trolley at 9pm instead of 10 pm and changing the frequency on the Gold Line trolley on weekends from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes. In all, 20 routes will be affected by the change.

“We recommend that passengers check our individually printed schedules available in Kennedy Plaza and on www.ripta.com to see if there are any fall service changes that affect them,” said RIPTA spokesperson Karen Mensel.

RIPTA makes regular service adjustments three times a year in response to season changes and passenger use.
