WashTrust honored by women’s group

WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. was recently honored by the regional businesswomen’s group, The Boston Club, for being one of the New England companies that has appointed women to its board of directors.
Washington Trust Bancorp, the parent of The Washington Trust Co., has three female directors on the 14-member board: Katherine W. Hoxsie, Mary E. Kennard and Kathleen McKeough.
The Westerly-based bank was honored with a “corporate salute” for the third consecutive year by The Boston Club, a 33-year-old group that provides support to female senior executives and high-achieving professional women.
Washington Trust was one of 53 regional businesses recognized at the club’s annual luncheon earlier this month for having three or more female directors.
A director since 1991, Hoxsie is a retired CPA and former vice president of Hoxsie Buick-Pontiac-GMC Truck Inc.
McKeough, a retired senior vice president of human resources at GTECH Holding Corp., has been a director since 2003.
Kennard, a board member since 1994, is the vice president, general counsel and secretary at The American University in Washington, D.C.
